The different ways of recharging your car battery
The Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich (ETHZ) has studied how to charge electric cars. It sought to find out how much electricity from a private photovoltaic system can be used. Data from 78 vehicle users were examined as well as the output of the solar systems.
According to these researchers, without optimisationWithout optimisation, an average of 15% of the car's annual electricity needs could be covered. By using intelligent control (smart charging) that ensures that the battery is preferably charged when solar energy is available, the proportion could be increased to 56%. Using the potential of smart chargingthe level of 90% could be reached.
Smart charging can significantly increase the consumption of photovoltaic energy in households. The vehicle can be used as flexibly as if it were charged with mains electricity

Editor's note: Everyone dreams of the electric car, but no one measures the amount of energy it will consume. This study gives a first approach by indicating that almost all the solar production will be used by the vehicle with an intelligent charging system (the article does not say what is the installed solar power producing energy). The energy for the various household appliances and for heating will then have to be obtained
Not to mention that "smart charging" will in turn require energy to capture and provide for the needs
There is still a need for solar panels to meet the demand for electricity
