Modifying the encapsulation to encourage recycling of panels at the end of their life
The Dutch research centre TNO has designed two different encapsulations, one for the front that holds the glass and cells together, the other for the back of the panel
which holds the cells and the back sheet together. The aim is to make it easier to recycle a product at the end of its life and therefore to design from the start to make it easier. This would replace the shredding of the panel.
There would not necessarily be any additional costs, as it can be used in combination with standard factory lamination in the production of PV panels
