Comparison between microinverters and string or central inverters
The University of Limoges compared the operation of microinverters to string or central inverters on 200 installations in France
According to information from the manufacturers, the microinverter has a performance ratio of 92% and the central inverter 80%.
At the end of the experiment, it was found that the performance ratio in both cases was 79%. Despite this equality of results, the authors recommend the use of microinverters because of their claimed lifespan of 30 years, compared with 10 years for inverters, their price and the safety of the installation even in the event of fire.

Editor's note It is curious that no comparison like the one made by this university has taken place since microinverters were invented (about ten years ago). In all that time, we have been living on false information!
