Considerable investment in renewable energy
Ernst & Young found that utilities and financial investors are investing heavily in renewable energy, including hydrogen. An amount of
73 billion was invested in the third quarter. This covers investment in gas and electricity networks, the wider energy transition and energy services. Investments in storage, electric vehicles and waste-to-energy alone accounted for $57.2 billion.
While emerging climate and renewable energy technologies have traditionally been slow to attract large investments, this may be changing, as significant investments were made in hydrogen technologies in the third quarter.

Editor's note This is not surprising: it is the new technologies that require the most investment to install the necessary equipment. Moreover, the first investors may (but not always) have a head start on the next ones. As a result, we see large amounts of capital wanting to participate in the emergence of a technology.
