Production of perovskite cells at room temperature
South Koreans have created perovskite solar cells at room temperature. They used a fully organic perovskite material
coated with a sputtered electron transport layer. The resulting cells achieved a maximum efficiency of 19.7%.
All-inorganic perovskites have higher stability, and potentially even higher efficiency.
All-inorganic perovskites exchange the hydrogen and carbon molecule (methylammonium or formamidinum) for another material, most often caesium. And since organic components are the first to degrade when exposed to moisture and other conditions, replacing them with an inorganic material can quickly lead to better stability. This means coating them with an electron transport layer, which requires high temperatures. The scientists worked with zinc oxide as an electron transport layer
