Bouygues Energie & Services has built a solar-powered hydrogen plant
at a site operated by the Bordeaux Area Control Centre (ACC) in Sarlat, Dordogne
A 19.8 kW photovoltaic system powers a telecommunications antenna at a French air traffic control centre. When it produces more energy than is needed, the excess is used to produce hydrogen which is then used to generate new electricity via a fuel cell system. It then powers the antenna for up to five days. For short-term storage, lithium-ion batteries are used.

French hydrogen specialist HDF Energy has announced that it has sold a 25-year electricity contract to EDF. The energy comes from its Centrale Electrique de l'Ouest Guyanais (CEOG) project - a 128MWh photovoltaic park and hydrogen storage station in Saint-Laurent-du-Maroni, north-west French Guiana. The installation consists of a 55 MW solar unit, a 16 MW electrolyser, storage tanks and 3 MW of fuel cells.
