In brief hydrogen: distribution units in Daxin (China), Shell plant; R&D in Australia and Norway

With a supply capacity of 4.8 tonnes per day from eight distribution units

supplied by Air Liquide, the Daxin hydrogen station inaugurated on Thursday, July 8 in Beijing is the largest in the world. It will be able to fuel up to 600 vans, rubbish trucks and fuel cell buses per day.

Energy company Shell has commissioned its 10 MW polymer electrolyte membrane (PEM) hydrogen electrolysis plant at the Wesseling site of its Rheinland refinery near Cologne. It is the largest of its kind in Europe. It was built by the European consortium Refhyne with funding from the European Commission. Shell plans to expand the capacity of the electrolyser to 100 MW

The Australian government has awarded A$5 million ($3.7 million) to the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO) to support hydrogen research.
