More and more floating power plants in Asia

Floating photovoltaic installations are becoming increasingly common in Southeast Asia because, according to the banks, the technology is not very complex,

and because the skills of installers are now well mastered. Bank financing is therefore readily available.

Floating plants have the advantage of not needing land, and can be installed on water retention lakes, with the use of electrical facilities if a dam is nearby.

The potential for floating power plants in Asean countries could reach 24 GW, with promising prospects in the Philippines and Thailand.

The only drawbacks are local regulations, the frequent need to work with local authorities to bring a project to fruition, and the need to take account of currents and water levels.
