In brief from China: Engie-LONGi agreement, Tongwei, Chint No. 1 by power plants, CNBM and CdTe layers

- Engie and China's LONGi have reached an agreement:

the Chinese company will supply at least 600 MW of panels to the French company in 2021. The two companies will jointly develop photovoltaic projects in major solar markets, including India, France and Italy.

- Tongwei, the world's No. 1 cell manufacturer, has increased its prices for May

- Chint Group, a Chinese power transmission and distribution equipment provider, has become the largest private owner of solar power generation assets in China. At the end of 2020, the company operated 550 solar power plants in China with a combined capacity of 5.7 GW. The second largest owner of PV plants at the end of 2020 was GCL, which operated a total of 4.83 GW of PV capacity. The company had to sell several PV projects during 2020 to restore a difficult financial situation.

China National Building Materials (CNBM), the parent company of German panel manufacturer Avancis, has ordered several vacuum coating systems from Singulus. The Chinese company wants to manufacture thin-film cadmium telluride (CdTe) panels with a capacity of 1 GW.
