Charging stations are needed if electric vehicles are to become more common
Many European countries have set deadlines for banning the sale of fossil fuel cars. The manufacturers' association is calling for the number of public charging points in Europe to reach
million by 2025 and three million by 2030 to meet the growing demand for electric vehicles (EVs). This compares with 286,000 public charging points in Europe in 2020.
These are relatively concentrated in the Netherlands, France, Germany, the UK, Norway and Italy. The Netherlands has the highest density with 160.5 charging points per 100 square kilometres and 4.4 electric and hybrid vehicles per charging point.

Editor's note: One can ask, but the small number of electric vehicles makes the installation of charging points expensive, as they are not used enough.
