In 2020, the Spanish company Solarpack generated sales of €159 million (+77% over 2019) from the construction of power plants for third parties. Net profit fell by 12% to €10.4 million, partly due to the costs of refinancing assets in Spain and Peru.

The company obtained the rights to develop projects in India and Chile, corresponding to 469 MW, more than double the amount of orders in 2019.

Solarpack owns and operates 545 MW in 15 wind farms in Spain, Chile, Peru and India. It operates and maintains 22 power plants with a capacity of 742 MW.

The company expects to have 1.8 to 2 GW in construction or operation by 2023.

Soltec, the Spanish manufacturer of trackers, has been affected by delays in coronavirus-related projects and increased costs due to the pandemic as a result of port congestion, manpower problems at the sites, interconnection and financing delays, and the rising cost of solar panels. This resulted in a 34% drop in turnover to €235m and a net loss of €4.9m in 2020.

Yet the company's indicators are excellent, with an order book of 1.9 GW at the end of 2020 and a pipeline of 24 GW, figures that increased in the first two months of 2021. Above all, the company has diversified its customer base and markets.

BayWa r.e. acquires Kaiserwetter Energy, a specialist in cloud-based asset management software for the renewable energy sector: it is a specialist in Internet of Things (IoT), asset intelligence and data science. He has developed two software platforms, Aristoteles (to maximise the performance of renewable energy investment portfolios) and IRIS (an intelligent data analysis machine that provides detailed information and reports for due diligence, asset performance and identification of growth potential).

This acquisition, which reinforces the acquisition in 2019 of Canada's PowerHub Inc., reflects the digital transformation of operations in the field of renewable energy. By combining the different competencies, it will enable efficiency, transparency and value for owners and asset managers worldwide.
