Difficulty finding land in Italy for power plants
Ground-based power plant installations in Italy face difficult approval by the authorities,
because agricultural land must not be encroached upon. Yet every year thousands of hectares are abandoned in Italy, adding to the agricultural land that is in disuse. Italy has set itself the target of increasing the number of ground-mounted power plants by at least 20 GW and at least 1 GW per year on rooftops by 2030.
