Engie reacts to the planned RE2020 ban on gas heating
Directly affected by the proposal of the Minister of Energy Transition to ban gas heating in new housing from the summer of 2020, the president of Engie strongly criticized
the government's intention to exclude gas from new buildings, deeming all-electricity "inefficient" and dangerous for the French electricity supply
Following this message, EDF contests Engie's analysis and affirms that it will be the heat pumps that will benefit from this decision and that should reduce the national consumption also because of the continuous efforts of insulation.
Batirama of 7 December
Editor's note The brutality of the minister's decision had shocked us. Instead of letting the market decide based on price, comfort or ease of maintenance, the Minister thought she could decide and impose. Another government attitude that is not very adequate. It's quite normal that Engie reacts, as if EDF and GDF were continuing their little squabble of yesteryear.
