American and Finnish researchers have installed commercially available flexible thin-film solar panels on floating materials such as neoprene, Mincell and polyethylene. In addition to
they developed a floating installation. They also indicate how a private individual should proceed. They believe that this technology holds incredible promise in the world's arid regions to drastically reduce evaporation losses while lowering the investment costs of photovoltaic systems.
