Why is the fall in the cost of RE not reflected in the European market price of energy?
While the average cost of energy (LCOE) is falling and the proportion of renewable energy in many grids is increasing, prices in wholesale electricity markets do not seem to be decreasing. Across the EU, the average quarterly wholesale electricity price rose by almost €20 per megawatt hour between the fourth quarter of 2015 and the same period in 2018.
