US NREL calls for innovation to make a difference
NREL's director believes that existing clean energy technologies are not sufficient to achieve zero carbon production.
To meet the targets of the Paris agreement, solar energy needs to grow by an average of 15% per year until 2030. This growth rate would require a continuous reduction in the cost of photovoltaics, even though solar has already reached cost parity with coal and natural gas.
