A battery using Prussian blue and a sodium ion electrolyte

The young American company Natron Energy is developing a battery using Prussian blue analogue electrodes and a sodium ion electrolyte. It has just collected

35 M$. Although Prussian blue offers a modest energy density, the company claims that this material is so widely available on earth and inexpensive that it could provide a cost-effective and sustainable response to stationary energy storage.

According to its CEO, Natron batteries provide tens of thousands of deep discharge cycles. They can be fully charged or discharged in just a few minutes and cost significantly less than today's lead-acid batteries.

Investors are currently interested in solutions that provide long life energy storage. The article also presents different companies that have developed different technologies.
