25% reduction in the number of solar energy workers in the United States by 2020
The pandemic has resulted in the reduction of 65,000 solar jobs in the United States, according to SEIA. This compares to
to 250,000 employees at the beginning of 2020. This means that there are now 188,000 employees.
Wood Mackenzie estimates that the decline in the number of employees installing rooftop signs is as much as 50% (one in two employees). The profession has been getting orders from roofing owners, but this has not yet translated into an upturn in residential employment.
