Despite a cost twice as high, the Middle East remains faithful to hydrocarbons
Middle Eastern countries would save money if they abandoned fossil fuels in the energy mix, installed transmission lines and used only renewable energy. They could reduce their costs by
55% to 69%, according to the study published in Energy Strategy Reviews. The average cost of electrical systems using only renewable energy would range from €40.30 to €52.80 ($43.53 to $57.04) per megawatt-hour, while in the current configuration the average cost is €118.60 per MWh.

Editor's note The information is interesting because it points out the difficulty of modifying a national or regional electricity system, when the cost could be cut in half.
While there are no major errors in the study, it shows the difficulty of changing, of transforming a system that works in favour of a new one whose performance, operating difficulties or simply technical characteristics are unknown.
This remark explains the difficulties to generalise renewable energies in Europe.
