Prices in the 26 March sector: demand is lacking

Presentation of EnergyTrend The wait-and-see attitude has taken over the market. Supply and demand on the Chinese market have not yet returned to normal. The overseas market is in free fall due to the coronavirus.

Silicon :

According to EnergyTrend In the current situation, manufacturers are reluctant to increase their production rates. The closure of the borders of certain countries makes supply difficult.

The situation could freeze for two to four weeks before the epidemic is eradicated.

The price of silicon is unchanged as stocks swell downstream. Professionals are monitoring the situation.

The price of monosilicon is unchanged at 72 - 75 RMB/kg; multicrystalline is between 50 and 55 RMB/kg. Abroad, the price is 8.63 - 9.13 $ / kg with an average price of 8.83 $.

According to PV InfoLink Manufacturers have filled their current orders, but there is little new business. Monosilicon remained between 72 and 75 RMB per kg and multicrystalline between 42 and 45 RMB per kg. Silicon buyers are waiting for the right opportunity.

The price of foreign silicon remained stable at $8.3 / kg for mono-Si wafers and $6.7 / kg for multi-Si wafers.

The wafers :

According to EnergyTrend Prices began to fluctuate due to rising inventories and slowing downstream demand. Manufacturers are adjusting their supply to their perception of the situation. The abundance of products causes prices to fall. The price of traditional M2 products begins a slow decline. Larger products remain sheltered from competitive pressure.

In the foreign market, the price of multi-Si inserts is currently $0.180 - $0.188 / pc. The price of black silicon products is lowered to $0.243 / pc. The 156.75 mm mono-Si wafer costs $0.370 - $0.395 /pc, with an average price lowered to $0.388 /pc. The price of the large wafer (158.75 mm) remains unchanged at $0.420 - $0.430 / pc. The price for large size products is $0.423 - $0.440 / pc.

According to PV InfoLink The price of multicrystalline wafers has fallen because manufacturers, seeing the recent demand, had boosted their capacity. The price returned to between 1.35 - 1.48 RMB / piece and between 0.195 - 0.199 $ / piece. Manufacturers began to negotiate prices for April. They are expected to fall due to the epidemic and stagnant demand.

Prices for mono wafers have not changed, indicating a definite demand. Nevertheless, the epidemic is causing a decrease in demand, while professionals were expecting a recovery in demand. Manufacturers will lower their prices. The big manufacturers have lowered them by 0.05 RMB / piece for all sizes. Manufacturers are very pessimistic.

the cells :

According to EnergyTrend there is a slowdown in supply and demand. The weakness in demand observed for several weeks has not stopped. Manufacturers are slowing down production. Nevertheless, prices have fallen, in line with market expectations.

In the offshore market, the price of the general multi-Si cell remains unchanged at $0.077 - $0.085. The price of the general single-Si cell remains unchanged at $0.101 - $0.107 / W. The price of the high efficiency mono-Si cell remains unchanged at $0.112 - $0.119 / W. The price of the higher efficiency (> 21.7%) mono-Si cells is $0.118 - $0.170 / W.

According to PV InfoLink : Prices for mono PERC cells have started to fall this week, to 0.88 - 0.89 RMB / W for M2 cells, and 0.92 - 0.93 RMB / W for G1 cells. Prices for M2 size cells dropped to a low of 0.83 - 0.85 RMB / W this week as inventories build up and weakened demand forced manufacturers to sell at low prices. Prices for G1 size cells were relatively stable, with low levels remaining at 0.9 - 0.91 RMB / W. Depending on the reduction in production volumes, this will affect the price of mono PERC cells.

The price of multi-Si cells fell to 2.70 - 2.75 RMB / W this week as the largest market, India, closed its borders.

Foreign cell prices have fallen due to a depreciating RMB/$ exchange rate. Some producers are negotiating new bids but few contracts are concluded. For example, this week prices for mono PERC cells were $0.112 - $0.116 / W for M2 cells and $0.120 - $0.122 / W for G1 cells; prices for multi-Si cells were around $0.075 / W.

the panels :

According to EnergyTrend Prices have remained stable but the impact of the epidemic on foreign markets is worse than expected. Demand will remain weak for two to four weeks. China is still affected by delays in logistics and transport, even if the rate of employees returning to work is gradually improving.

In the overseas market, the general price revision range for 60 multi-Si cells (275 W - 280 W) is currently $0.191 to $0.229 / W. The price range for multi-Si to 72 high efficiency cells (325 W - 330 W) remains unchanged at $0.205 - $0.238 / W. The price range for mono-Si (305 W - 310 W) is $0.209 - $0.390 / W. The price of high-efficiency mono-Si (315 W - 320 W) is $0.213 - $0.340 / W, with an average price lowered to $0.270 / W. The price of the higher efficiency mono-Si (> 320 W) is $0.222 - $0.390 / W.

According to PV InfoLink With the epidemic, demand is shrinking. Orders for panels for April and May are few. Manufacturers have cancelled their contracts with their subcontractors in China and abroad. Some Tier 1 and Tier 2 producers are no longer operating at full capacity. They are buying less material, so cell and wafer manufacturers are now facing increased inventories. As a result of the coronavirus, residential and industrial rooftop projects are being halted. The second quarter will see a pause in the demand for panels in foreign markets. Stocks will increase and prices will gradually slide.
