A very powerful solar desalinator

Scientists at the American MIT have developed a solar desalinator that transports heat from the sun through a ten-step process of evaporation and condensation.

The heat released during condensation of the water is recycled, flowing into the next layer to feed the next stage of evaporation.

The prototype on a roof at MIT provided water that exceeded local drinking water standards with a rate of 5.78 litres per hour per square metre of solar collection area.

The group estimates that a $100 device using their innovation could meet a family's daily drinking water needs.
