German lakes could be home to 56 GWp of floating power plants
Artificial lakes in Germany close to coal mines could make it possible to install 56 GWp of floating solar power. This is what
Fraunhofer ISE having studied 500 ponds. These locations would help to resolve land-use conflicts. The government could stimulate floating facilities with a 10%-15% premium that would cover the price differential with a ground-based power plant.
