Italian policemen arrested a gang of traffickers
Italian police arrested a gang of traffickers who relabelled used solar panels for recycling
under the laws of the European Union, and who were reselling them in some African countries. The amount of the scam is said to have earned its perpetrators €40m over the last eighteen months. A dozen companies were allegedly involved, including a photovoltaic panel recycling company in Italy, which would be responsible for relabelling the panels that are then resold.
3,000 tonnes of photovoltaic panels were seized during police raids.
